Irma Clara Wells, 97, of Romulus, Michigan, passed away on January 15, 2017. Irma was born August 18, 1919 in Romulus, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Henry Schonscheck and Helen (Kulokowski) Schonscheck.
Irma graduated from Romulus High School in 1937. After graduation she worked for Romulus Lumber, where she met her husband, whom everyone called Jim. They built their home in 1941 before their marriage in 1942. They owned and operated Wells Green Houses on their property for many years.
Jim and Irma were long time members of the Romulus Progressive Club, where Irma served as secretary most of those years. Irma also worked on the election board for many years. She always enjoyed the long days being able to serve the public and see her many friends and neighbors that voted at city hall. Irma retired from K-Mart Corporation in 1984. It was at that time that her husband entered a nursing home. She visited Jim in that home twice everyday faithfully to make sure that he ate his breakfast and dinner. Jim died in 1987.
Irma enjoyed her many grandchildren and made so many loving memories over the years. She enjoyed shopping and gardening. Irma was so kind and caring. She would call her friends that were not in good health to see if they needed anything and would take it to them.
Her daughter MaryAnn has lived with her off and on for the past fifteen years, just to keep an eye on her.
Irma was a life long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Boston. She has a very strong faith and always enjoys the many cards from members of the congregation, but most of all, the visits from our Pastor.
Irma had a long and happy life and will surely be missed by family and friends.
MaryAnn would like to say a special thank you to her support team; professional care giver Chris, dear friends Sandy and Harry, nieces Monica in Grand Rapids, and Michelle in Washington State. Also most of my co-workers at the 34th district court, were my constant support with their caring and loving attitudes for the last several years. You guys have been my rock through all of this.
To cherish her memory she leaves two sons; James (Jean) Wells of Milford and David Wells of Texas, one daughter; MaryAnn Wells of Romulus, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and loving and devoted friends Harry and Sandy Crout of Romulus.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Leonard Wells, and two sisters; Edna Milatz and Anna Marie Wohlfeil.
