Nan Marie (Osburn) Kokila
Nan was born September 16, 1942 in Wayne, Michigan and died peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida on April 13, 2017. Nan was the daughter of Dale Osburn and Geraldine Sundburg of Romulus, Michigan who have both preceded her.
A life long resident of the Romulus area, Nan was a member of the Romulus Methodist Church since childhood. On October 27, 1962 Nan married Richard Kokila, also of Romulus. Nan was a graduate of Romulus High School and attended Eastern Michigan University before starting her working career at Ford Motor Company Engineering and Dale Osburn Trucking.
Nan leaves behind her husband, Richard and four children: Jill (Jamie) Georgeson, Richard (Jackie) Kokila, Suzanne (Mark) McKay, and Shannon (Charles) Whitney. She was very proud of her nine grandchildren who adored her: Bailee, Olivia, Gabrielle and Miranda Georgeson, Richard Kokila, Chase and Brett McKay, and Leland and Barrett Whitney. In addition to her immediate family Nan is survived by her brothers Dan and Richard Osburn, plus many nieces and nephews survive Nan.
Nan was very active during her lifetime. She enjoyed bowling, softball, and golf while spending time with her children’s activities as well as attending her grandchildren’s games and competitions. Nan was a very caring and devoted lady who loved life and family. She has countless friends who will miss her presence.
Friends may gather from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Crane Funeral Home, 36885 Goddard Rd. Romulus, Michigan 48174,(734) 941-9200. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 4:00pm with Rev. William Kren of Dearborn Congregational Church, officiating.
