Mavis Edna Smith, 90, of Burnsville, Mississippi, passed away on November 7, 2017. Mavis was born April 5, 1927 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Reuben Boyette and O’Dessie (Steed) Boyette.

Mavis enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. She especially loved spending time with her family.

To cherish her memory she leaves two daughters; Rebecca (Robert) White and Pamela S. Taepke, one sister; Laris Rooker, seven grandchildren; Rachael, Emily, Natalie, Ryan, Nathan, Eric, and Andrea, and five great grandchildren; Evelynn, Madelynn, Kolin, Thomas and Kailani.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Horace W. Smith, two brothers; Gladys Boyette and Doyle Botette, and three sisters; Lois Boyette, Jimmie Boyette and Johnnie Boyette.

There will be a visitation on Saturday November 11, 2017 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Grace Baptist Church, located 164 Roys Street, Belleville, MI 48111. The funeral service will be held at 12:00pm, with Pastor Robert White officiating.
