Condolence From: Robert Barbantini
Condolence: I am so sorry for the families loss and regret not seeing this sooner as I surely would have attended the service. Mr. Roberts was one of my inspirations for becoming a teacher (39 years worth in Trenton). His first year teaching in Southgate was my 6th grade class at Chormann Elementary. The next year, when I moved to the Junior High School, Mr. Roberts did too. I had him again in 8th grade for Language Arts and then, when I moved to the High School for 10th grade, so did he...I had him again as a teacher in High School and watched as he developed the Drama program there into a masterful thing. Fair, firm, honest and intense are all the words I can use to describe this wonderful man and I took many of his teaching traits with me into my profession.

One brief story...in 6th grade, Mr. Roberts use to smoke in class and my parents thought it would be a good idea to buy him cigarettes (Herbert Tareyton's if I remember correctly). My dad make him an ashtray and I went to the store and bought him a pack of cigarettes as his Christmas gift....times have surely changed.
